There was a Qualifier in 2013 for the Australia Worlds.
Last year the 'team' was chosen to represent NZ in The Netherlands.
I'm personally bowing out of competing this year due to our first born on the way, and he's due roughly the same time.
Hope to have the details shortly. Just a little more organising to do.

I'm hoping to have everything up on here by Monday evening.

At this stage I can say there will be no entry fee, just the cost of the fresh water Fishing License (Around $20).
A two person team will be selected, one spot will go to a Hobie Kayaker, and the other spot open to any other branded Kayaker.
I still have the rules, regs and safety documentation to complete.
Dates are not yet confirmed, however I'm looking at Saturday 1st August with a back up day of Sunday 2nd.

Further details and the official announcement to come.
Cheers!

There plenty of fish and multiple species in Lake Pupuke.. none you'd want to eat though ;)
The idea is to mimic the conditions that will be presented in China as close as possible.

Hi all.
Thank you for your interest so far.
Prizes are starting to come in and I'll be putting together a Prize List for individual placing's and the selected 5HFWC competitors shortly.
Individual placing's will be awarded on performance on the day with the winners being given the opportunity to represent New Zealand in China. The two NZL team members will also receive a separate Prize Pack.
Further details coming soon..

Im surprised the rules allow bait to be used as you will only be allowed to use lures at the Hobie Worlds .
Good luck to all who give this a nudge , it will be a great experience and eye opener for the two competitors who get to represent NZ .

Hi KK
As most if not all competitors will end up being Salt water predominant fisho's, the reason I have set the all permitted Bait and Lures under the Fish and Game regulations, is more of a test of flexibility/adaptability.
The target species in China are unlike anything in our waters, so will be a great challenge to whoever takes it on.

Also just to note the extended Prize List will be published later this week.

More prizes still to be added, but for a zero entry fee comp where all you need is a $20'ish dollar fishing license to compete.. what more could you ask for?! Hope to see you there (Y)
