I caught a lot of these fish up at matauri bay. Anyone know exactly what they are? I got told there pig fish by a local boy up there and parrot fish by a fellow kayaker going past. I had a look at parrot fish online and they had a beak like mouth, these have sharp teeth. Anyway they were a pleasure coming out of the smoker.Image

But, yep - what you have there are Pigfish.
Not bad eating.

What your mate calls "Parrotfish" is probably Sandagers wrasse, which look very similar but have distinct banding.
