Hi there all, I'm keen to get out there too - Kayak is $450 off from being mine however - but please keep me in the loop. As a Newbie I'll be interested to hear of fishing spots (promise I won't tell anyone ;-) baits to use, techniques etc... I've got a bit of a clue on Kayaking as I belong to the Mana Kayak Club.

Hey people.

I am moving to Wellington in January and if there is a club going, i would be keen to get involved. Even just to meet some fellow kayak fishing buddies.

Have fun, be safe and good fishing.

I dont really drink to be honest
I just think that the PWMC has some pretty tidy facilitys and its far enough back from the water line that those of us that get too happy wont find ourselves paddling to picton at 3am when the drinks stop serving :D

To all Welly yak fishers...
I am posting this on several threads so apologies if you get it more than once.
I am hosting a casual get together of yak fishos at my place on Thursday 24th Jan at 8pm.
Just a few drinks and sit around and talk kayaks, tackle, locations and tell some tales. But mainly to put some faces to the names on the forum, introduce each other and find some others to get out with.
If you are keen, PM me and i will reply with the address (Newtown) and my cell number.
Hope to see you here
Peter

What happened with all the above discussion as a concept? I'm about to join the yak fishing fraternity in Wellington and keen to jump on the band wagon. Had plenty of boat fishing experience but excited about having my butt closer to the water. Not far off purchasing my first yak. Cheers.

Hey people.

I'm moving into the Hutt Valley in the next couple of weeks and would be keen to meet people and maybe get a fishing group going.

I'm not from the Wellington area so any advice in fishing spots would be much appreciated. The 4.1 has spent to much time in the garage over the last few months.

Have fun, be safe and happy fishing.

Gidday WoP, Good luck with generating interest. As in my post above I'm ending the research phase about to buy and install my mods to a yak. Either a Prowler 13 or Marauder. I work in the Hutt area, live in Whitby, will probably take my first paddle around Plimmerton, Pukerua Bay or perhaps some of the inner Wellington harbour areas. Good luck with the move. Might catch up with you who knows. Cheers.

Hey Blazer60

I'll be living in the Silver Stream area at this stage.

I'll let you know when I finally get set up if your keen and fancy going for a fish. Would be good to get a group together for fishing and the occasional beer.

I have a Prowler 4.1 which I am also in the process of doing things to (although this seems to be an ongoing project).

I've had a bit of a drive around the bays and have found what look to a be few good areas to launch but not sure about their ability to produce fish.

Have fun, be safe and happy fishing.

I would always be keen for a club. I have moved down from Auckland and the fishing here is not as prolific but I am really enjoying the variety. Believe it or not you can get sick of pulling panny snapper all of the time. Here there is snapper, blue cod, gurnard, hapuka, terakihi, trumpeter, elephant fish ohh and spottys, wrasse, parrot fish, red cod, cuda, dogfish octopus and bloody blind eels!!

Hi Graeme, after much trolling through these forums, and justification to Her Indoors, I've eventually purchased some plastic, pick it up next weekend. I need to get it up to fishing spec but I'm real happy with what I've got to start with and then I'll be looking to get on the water. There's a couple of other guys around looking to link up as well. Cheers.
