Wellington Kayak Fishing Club 2017 edition

Hi Guys
We are having a go at getting a proper club set up for the local Yak fishers in Wellington.
I see this has been tried once before some 10 years ago, I guess there was a lack of engagement.
There seems to me more and more of us on the water and I reckon it's time to try again. I have put some feelers out on Facebook and there seems to be more than a bit of interest
Would be great to have a club to rival some of our Northern neighbours, hold regular club events, guest speakers and eventually a big comp to attract some of those from up north, see how they handle our conditions!

I want to hear from anyone who would be interesting in joining, or if you have some ideas about how it could be run, what you would like to get from it and if you are really keen, to be involved.

Well I'll start by saying, I'd be keen to be a part of it.

Due to commitments, I can only operate at an ideas generating/participation level.

Below are a couple of brain dumped ideas for others to see and critique.

Maby quarterly catchups (less becomes too infrequent?, more becomes too much burden?), meetings could involve anything from MPI updates on fisheries, to coast guard updates (i.e. VHF channel changes last year), to up coming fishing competitions, general fishing reports from locals (i.e. Pete Lamb or others) to a couple of keen beans maby just sharing stories with the rest of the group on successful trips of late. Maby throw in a BBQ, BYO, or don't even worry about food (maby a bridge too far?), raffle at the door to win a voucher to a local fishing shop. A hired venue, or is someone going to offer their house? Depends on numbers I suppose. Club trips (tricky with weather, but yeah). Communications (FB, Email, KayakFishingNZ?).

Number one question. People willing to organize, and their time availability.
