If like me, you're new to the whole, techo fish finder thing, maybe this will help, in regard to reading the side scan thing, in the fishfinder.

I've been using an older Humminbird 535, which Mr Inky very kindly gave to me. Now I've been bitten by the 'new fish finder' bug.

When researching the newer models, I couldn't make head nor tail, of the side scan/view stuff, so I forced the brain, into research mode and I've prepared a trio of images that help, at least, help me, understand.

The first is the screen as seen on the fish finder and then I split off the left and right sides and rotated them to be, water surface at top.

The second, I've tried to put the 1st screen in perspective.

The third, is an idealised view somewhat akin to an aerial photo.
