Hi all. Got a Stealth 525 and just purchased a Hook 4 with HDI. Now I'm contemplating how to install the transducer...
I searched this site and decide to go with a wet mount, but after cutting some foam and applying the first layer of Sellys things were getting sticky pretty quickly. I'm not convinced that I'm going to get it all sealed off nicely, especially the top. Also worried I'm just going to get glue all over the bottom and introduce bubbles before I start. Has anybody else installed a wet mount in a Stealth before, or got some clever tricks for me in terms of operating in the confined space?
I'm wondering if I should just epoxy it down... I've seen a video using Sikaflex, and the Stealth guys themselves saying epoxy is the way to go (albeit no brand named). If I went this route - I have some sikaflex 291 and Selleys Araldite - is one of these preferable, or is there something else I should use?

Not sure about the stealth and operating space to install, but I recently installed the same FF and transducer into a prowler, you might find some of this handy

Perhaps using a foam insert to create a well for the Selleys and transducer is the most helpful bit, as it worked for me. I think also a wet mount you refer to is different again and the transducer sits in a bath of water, gel or and oil based lube a bit like the hummingbird thru hull mount https://www.amazon.com/Humminbird-MHX-K ... But I might be wrong on that...

Another option is a wet-box. It's a solid block built up from the hull, with a centre cut-out shaped for your transducer to squeeze into.
You fill the cut-out with water and push the transducer in (being careful to avoid bubbles). You typically fill the wet-box with water each time you go out. Alternately you can use glycerol (a largely inert and thicker liquid) and once you are happy there are no bubbles pour a crust of epoxy over the top.
I made mine with rings of 4mm closed cell foam, to follow the shape of the hull nicely then added a 20mm block as a cap with a cut out to suit the transducer. In the photo you can also see to the right of the transducer a small brass cam-bung. This allowed me to pour water in and get air to escape while the transducer was in place.

Hey, thanks guys. Sorry I must admit I missed your posts..
I have a 10 x 7 cm hole to work through in my yak. You can see a similar in this video from about 2 mins in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X4CfZcrZls That's the stealth guys doing an install.
I keep changing my mind..
It is the wet-box I was thinking of doing. Initially with glycerol, and sealed.
Then I changed to thinking just a water based and filling it up every time. I have cut up a Tupperware container to glue to the yak, and will seal the bottom edges with sikaflex. This will be the easiest in terms of not messing adhesive everywhere.
But now that I am looking at your pics again Stinky inky, I think I may just go the route you did - the clarity is perfect still hey? Convenience of not having water around the inside every time, and I can screw the battery mount back in to close up the hole again - I'd be too lazy to unscrew it every time.
I need to make up my mind soon, so I'll let you know what I picked and how it goes!

The termonolgoy cna be confusing
Thru-hull = hole in hull. Transducer face is exposed to the water e.g. https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/airmar-s ... transducer
In-hull = No hole in hull. Transducer is mounted in a wet-box or adhered to inside surface of hull. The transducer face is not exposed to the water. e.g. https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/airmar-m ... sducer-1kw

Confusingly transducers designed to be transom mounted are often used in-hull
