For those that haven't discovered this wonderful (FREE) package yet:
Installer incl manual:
http://www.sping.com/seaclear/sc_setup.exe

If you want to do your own calibrations, charts can be found at
http://www.linz.govt.nz/hydro/charts/di ... index.aspx
You need the TIF files - the JPGs are so lossy they' re useless.

Instructions on how to calibrate your own charts are here:http://www.kayakfishingnz.com/forum/vie ... 189#p20189

I have got all of the NZ charts calibrated already, so if there's a particular one you want, just ask and I'll upload it for you.

And here's the "how to" to get SC running 8)
Download required WCI charts from here.
Close Seaclear if it's running
In the Seaclear directory on your hard drive, run Mapcal_2.exe.
Click on Tools-->Set Directories.
Assign the chart location in the chart directories window eg C:\Program Files\SeaClear\charts - My example, you may have them elsewhere
Click OK.
Tools-->Autoload list-->scan for new charts.
Tools-->Autoload List-->recreate (confirm if it asks you if you want to delete SCAINDEX.BIN).
Close Mapcal.
Start Seaclear
File-->chart-->list all
This should list all the charts you have in your assigned directory

Tips:
As I have the whole lot, I first load NZ23 (North Island 1:1,500,000) then a double click on my chosen area loads the best chart for that region automatically.

Double clicking on the outside margin (outside the graduated Lat/Long lines) loads the adjacent chart (if you have it)

Left click and hold drags the chart

Right click opens actions menu (primarily used to add waypoints)

Rolling the centre mouse wheel zooms in/out.

Export Waypoints as a G7T file
(Download G7towin (free)from here: http://www.gpsinformation.org/ronh/g7towin.htm)
G7T will convert to/from Seaclear G7T and GPX files for GPS's and other mapping software, eg memory map etc

Official manual here:

Any questions? :lol:

Hi HLD, great maps they are very helpful. I was wondering if you have any more for Hawke bay? I would love to get as many as possible for our local area as fishing can be quite hard down here at the best of times, so any help would be a real bonus. Cheers, Brent.

Run Seaclear first, then open the chart from within the prog. It'll be under "unlisted charts" if you haven't run the mapcal routine first to tell it where the charts are.

I have been using the website below

http://marine.geogarage.com/routes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

SeaClear looks more detailed tho, as long as you have the map for your area.
Yak PBs. | Snapper: 20.7lb | Trevally: 11lb | Kingfish: 13kg | Brown Trout: 5.5lb | Albacore Tuna: 4.6kg | John Dory: 2.0lb | Blue Cod: 34cm | Skipjack Tuna: 4.4lb | Eagle Ray: 10kgish | Red Snapper: 4.1lb | Grandfather Hapuka: 7.1lb | Pigfish: 3.7lb |

Updated the first post with a step by step on installing charts into Seaclear, along with some tips on driving it.

Also added the manual as a separate file.

Hey I have the navionics hd on ios and android, recently they started pushing an ad for their new platinum+. Little pissed at first, had the ad come up 5 or 6 times, when I did look at the product it seemed nice, but for the life of me it just doesn't seem to apply to their mobile app. Long story short, I want the 3d hydrographic charts of Auckland, navionics hasn't provided that on mobile, has anyone?

Just to say; while trying to figure out (cheap) options for my new Lowrance elite-5, I came across the OpenCPN plotter/chart display (http://opencpn.org/ocpn/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) for the desktop (in whatever config you might have).
It is another FREE option like Seaclear but by downloading the zipped file of all NZ charts from the govt (http://www.linz.govt.nz/sites/default/f ... B_BASE.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and pointing the CPN to the unzipped folder, you get every NZ chart good to go and already calibrated in the software.

If you have a Garmin unit (how I now wish I'd sorted this before getting my Lowrance), it will export some stuff (waypoints for example) direct and natively to the unit.

Huh, it also rings the time in naval bells fashion as I just found out!! :geek:

I must say, that till now I've used Seaclear and enjoyed it and wish to say a big thanks to HLD for facilitating the maps to use with it.
