Heard a rumour that Mrs White or one of her offspring paid one of our locals a visit in the weekend, only thing is his mate, fishing 100m away didn't know about it till his fishing buddy was on shore waving at him. mmmm. question to be asked what would you do???? Me, I'm not sure but everyone would know about it.

Ive had an encounter.

Always easier said than done but usual drill....... Keep calm.

The first thing I do when surrounded by buddies though is advise I'm getting a bit of attention and/or shark in the area.

Often the way one operates on the water can change when they know there's a predator around and if I went missing........ At least they know why

Pointloader's exact words were "I'll leave you with that" as he paddled as fast as he could back to shore where later he told me what he had seen.

That was a couple of years ago, I'd like to think he would give me warning these days but I wouldn't put money on it.

Hell! Do you know where this happened mate? I had heard a couple had been spotted of the Port and Waitara but forgot all about while fishing off BBK last weekend.
I would cut everything in the water, collect my mate, and vamoose!

Like they say in Scuba diving, you carry a knife not to protect yourself from the shark, but to stab your buddy while you swim away.

So yes, I would cut everything in the water, including my mate, and vamoose!

The best part is, it wasn't until months later that I told him it was a white - and about the length of my kayak haha

Do you know any more details? Was it circling the yaks and how big? I have fished there before, it's a good spot with a big reef, obviously it thought so too.
