Very excited....... Sail is finished and ready for sea trials.....time for some testing at a secret location to avoid any embarrassment when it flies to pieces on its first outing!!!

I was out of the port last time as well....just a big drive north.....planning on heading straight back to the same area between whitecliffs and tongapurutu. There were heaps of bait fish and tuna in 60-80m and it was looking very fishy with 20.2deg black water.

heres hopin ;)

Too far to paddle up there though ;( If I was more sure of the forecast could launch at Tonga I suppose but 60-80m is still a long way straight out!

Nakiman and I paddled to 50 meters off the cliffs couple years back..... That was 22 km out, so I would hate to guess how far 60-80 meters is of tongapurutu... Fark that!!!

That's what I mean! 100m+ off the port or cape-easy. 60m off WC-no way

It's good!!!

6.5kph down wind...... 3.5kph cross wind without paddling.

Just need to fit the lee boards and a slightly bigger rudder and she will definitely go up wind...... Had it going upwind slightly today in calmer patches but once the wind picks up it blows the nose around.

Time for a update .... I have been a bit distracted lately with crewing on a 'stink' boat trying to catch a marlin.... But with the comp approaching its time to get back to the yak....

Lee boards fitted and ready for further sea trials......

Hopefully some up wind kayak sailing or some speed across wind with the boards fitted to stop it getting blown across the top of the water sideways
