I'd be interested to hear how you go, I believe it's pretty shallow there but i have a mate who reckons he catches good snapper in only 3m of water there from the shore

ive heard the same. have seen a good trevally come out of there from the rocks south side. wasnt me that caught it..
depending on conditions i might brave it and paddle over to goat island. been dyin to get over there since i moved here.
i did south gable and rocky bay last sunday... not even a nibble did i feel. although my softbaits came back up with only a few cms left of them. covered over 21k and spent 6 hours on the water. all i had to report was a very achy derrier. (rear end)

Yep get yourself over to Goat Island you won't regret it ;)

Also there is a reef in the center of the bay, not marked on any charts etc and may take some finding but that always held fish too ;)

I miss fishing the estuary in the evening too, I don't think you can beat sight casting to legal size Snapper...

Cheers Mental. Ill get over there tonight. looking down the estuary and over to goat island as i type.. estuary is like a sheet of glass ( apparently there were dolphins in there last sunday) was told there are a few kingies in there.. quite a way up im told.
the bay looks flat too. practically no surf on the sandbar.. small waves only. just how i like it.
next time ur up this way give me a shout.. im always ready for a short notice trip

not much of a report im afraid.
3 meter gentle swell not choppy at all. hooked and lost one at goat island after 5 minutes of fun on a nuclear chook.
was gutted. it would have been my first fish on the yak and softbaits. next time ya little..beeeeeep!!
regardless.. it was good to get out. very peaceful and hardly a breath of wind. think ill try the estuary tomorrow. any suggestions for a good spot Mental?
