Hey guys

Im gonna be up in Whangarei on the 6th Of August to the 9th of August. The 6th will most prob be the best day for me to go fishing as going up for a 30th...

I will be bringing my kayak up and because I dont know the waters not to keen to venture too far off the beaten track as most likely ill be by myself.

Is there any decent spots I could go to in the harbour or within a short paddle from land?

Cheers
Mike

I may be able to take a day off work to join you, but as to where to fish.... well you'd better ask someone with more experience than me. I do know that fish can be caught near Taurikura and Urquharts Bay and Peach Cove but I have yet to take my yak out there and dont know where the reef's/ good spots are. Hope to try to install my fish finder this week then I may have more luck. Also I have never caught anything on softbaits yet so my experience is zero to none :worried:

I'd head out to Urquharts and work the coast from Home Point to Busby.

Be aware there's a marine reserve at Reotahi.
