2 sleeps until the King of the Harbour comp - From what I've heard, there should be an impressive Plastic Navy setting out.
Bring it on! :D

I'll post some pics next week.

Very hard work.
Not a lot of luck across the board, beach, boat or yak.
Winning snap was around 4kg I think, only one kingy.

Great show from the Yak Squadron though, I think there were about 20 or so yaks out there in full battle plumage :D

I clocked up 20.8km trying to find fish - plenty of sign on the sounder, but very little in the way of decent bites.

(Don't lend Shamus your sunnies! )

Bugger, sounds like the fish were having a day off up there. I'm getting a little tired of being able to see fish on the sounder but them not feeding... on the other hand it was good at Hahei, fishing in what i could only describe as perfect snapper country, shear rock faces, tons of reefs, landed some nice fish and again got owned by a couple of monsters, need to remember to deploy the sea anchor before hooking up on a big snapper so that it doesn't stand so much of a chance to drag you in the rocks/wash. Also caught some very nice ky for a change.

Also did my first turtle coming into the beach...

Cheers, Mental

Must admit, I tend to work the opposite way - with a decent moocher, I drop the anchor (fixed or drogue). I find I can put more hurt on the fish as the yak acts like a secondary shock absorber. If you're fixed, it's a lot harder on the gear.

...And I'll always remember my first Turtle :D Full payload and a beach full of admiring sightseers....

However! I am convinced you can eskimo roll a SOT (with thigh straps) - May not be as easy as my old SIKs, but I'm sure it can be done. Now that would be cool. No doubt you'll hear when I do it 8-)

Anyway, back to the King of The Harbour 2009...
