G'day Fellas,

I need a bit of advice from across the ditch. I am heading to NZ in early May for a wedding, the missus has booked a house in Rawhiti for 5 nights after for a bit of RnR. I'm thinking about bringing my alpacka raft along and having a crack at some kings or snapper or whatever you guys would recommend ? forgive the mass of questions but here goes !

should I bring the pack raft ?
Is there good fishing close by to Rawhiti ? ie oke bay ?
If yes, what size rod and reel ?
is there anywhere for fresh or salt water fly fishing in the area ?

Also I have read on a few sites that I have stalked that petty crime is high in the area, cars being broken into etc. Is this a genuine problem ?

Thanks in advance guys

Yes, you won rugby. Again. Well done ;)

cheers,

Wilbur

If you have a line in the water at Rawhiti, you'll find fish
Walk around the rocks, plenty of spots to try, some have quick dropoffs and big weed beds, but be wary of norterly/easterly winds, can make it pretty wild on the north side of the little peninsula.
From the bricks minimum 4000 size spinner with a good 8ft rod
You'll want between 20 and 50lb braid especially if a king finds you.
Petty crime I hear can be a problem but have never had any trouble myself up there
Dunno what a packraft is, but would be wary of currents and wind at times if it's a slow mover.

Oh yeah, we did win the rugby.... Again

Cool, thanks for the advice. I'll keep in mind the weather on the Northside.
Not sure if I'll bother with the inflatable, might just try the rocks instead.

Cheers

Wilbur
