I have just bought myself a flounder kit. I've always been keen to go out and get some flounder but don't really have a clue and never been shown how. I have a kayak and have heard it can be a good stealth approach but not necessary.

I live right at the mouth of the Waikareao Estuary in Tauranga Harbour and and am not too sure if there are any/many flounder out there. I've seen some people using nets and been told others go out so I guess there must be some.

Any advice is appreciated, especially from anyone who has hunted flounder near this estuary or around its entrance. What is the best time of the year, I have been told December onwards but am unsure of length of season and when it is best. Also, what time of night? Does it need to be fully dark? Does this estuary have many or am I better off going further afield? Thanks
