Ended up at Kohi, right about the Kahawai, got one just under 3kg. Had heaps of fun with the Kings, couldn't find one big enough to take my live baits, but heaps on stray line up to 740mm.
No sign of snapper taking bait

From Opotiki turn right at fire station, then left down to beach, then right and ocean road runs for about 3km, we mainly launch opposite Tawai street as a few of our members access beach from streets around Tawai. Any where along Ocean road is good, just got to watch the second break in places, generally every 100m is another meter of depth of water so 15m 1500m out.

Opotiki, so if coming from inlaw's to Ohope turn right at fire station onto harbour rd, along about 1.5km then left into Tawai, across reserve to beach.
