Hi Yakhard.

Can't do Saturday, but might be out there on Sunday. Hopefully the wind stays down! :^)

Pete Lamb reckons it's pretty good there at the moment: "We've had 3 harbour trips off Point gordan this week and had pretty good fishing. Good numbers or gurnard, bluecod and redcod. A handfull of teris, elephants and kahawai on each trip. One small snapper and various bits and bobs. All in all pretty good. The bluecod have been suprizingly big and plentiful."

Fingers crossed, as we had a hard day there last Sunday. Not much was biting.

Don't give up yakhard - there's fish there!! We went out on Sunday off Scorching Bay (Point Gordon) and caught a nice feed of tarakihi, blue cod and kahawai. Got a nice big plate of fish fillets in the fridge! Where'd you go?

I'd have to agree it's pretty cold. Head to toe neoprene for me and a water/windproof layer on top of that, and I still lose feeling in my feet!

Hi Todd
I also had a great fish trip on Sunday arvo, but south coast, outer part of Lyall bay. 9 blue cod to 40cm and a 2.2kg warehou. Non-stop action, and threw back lots of large kahawai. Large cuda hitting the small cod while winding them up kept us busy.
Yes, cold, so keep the trip to a couple of hours. Putting a supermarket bag on my feet before sliding on my bootees made a big difference. Be thankful you don't live in Invercargill...

Wear 2 wetsuits.....I had a polypro long sleeved top on, followed by a short sleeve/leg wetsuit, then a long legged sleeveless wetsuit over that. Kept me comfortable so will be out again this weekend. Caught nothing on that sat or sun :(
