I do believe that what you have there Dan is a Sea Perch (Pohuiakaroa) or Helicolenus percoides....just of the top of my head :geek:

Oh well I can claim the Sea Perch bit but I did have to look the rest up

Plenty of time for such things when you are up tending to a disgruntled baby

Great photos and fantastic conditions there Dan!

Yep dunno why but I've picked up way more wired and wonderful fish since swapping from the boat to the kayak, probably more close in reef fishing i suppose and the not spooking them with the motor may be.

Cheers, Mental

Hi Wellingtonians, I'm down that way every now and then visiting my father and was thinking the next time I will bring my kayak. It would be awesome if one of you locals could come out and show me a spot or two?
