Hey guys.

My kayak finally arrived, the roof racks are on and im ready to roll!

Anyone keen for an afterworker. Was thingking of lyall bay or somewhere down by the ferry terminal?

Ideas would be appreciated. If the day is anything like today (amazing) then it would be rude not to!

On water at 5.30 ish

I really would like to get out tomorrow, can duck off work a bit earlier and there may be a slight reprieve from the wind. Will see if I can't borrow a car to join you.

Looks like 3m swells for Lyall & Breaker bays - I'm not that brave. I need to explore the harbour and have a few spots that could be worth a shot. I have fished around it from land so have a few ideas on what might be where. If planning to be out after dark, lights are needed in the harbour, but you probably know that already. I might nip down the road and grab one on my lunch break as the harbour can get quite busy after sun down.

Will confirm later tonight if I can get my kayak down to the water

Cheers,
Anthony

Sounds great man. I could take your kayak for ya!, have space on the roof, just as long as its not a fish and dive or something elce battleship-like

Text me 0274162380. Harbour sounds good. Maybe give NIWA a jam?

Cheers

Wednesday: Northerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the morning, and to 35 knots gusting 60 knots for a time from around midday until late evening. Moderate sea becoming rough in the morning, and very rough for a time from around midday until late evening. Poor visibility in occasional rain developing in the morning, clearing overnight.

Maybe not man

shall we call it tomorrow or do you have to decide in the am on bringing your yak in? swellmap had the wind dying off earlier in the day than it does now.. at least there's only chop and wind to content with around evans bay and i'm happy enough to anchor up in around 20 knots in the harbour. Will have my gear ready to go if the wind dies down enough, will flick you a txt tomorrow anyway.

I've been watching the weather for a chance to get out all week.
It seems to me that Friday after work or Saturday morning may be a chance.

Saturday should be sweet in the harbour but there is a 4m swell forecast on the coast.
It drops away Sunday a bit so Lyall Bay etc may open up Sunday

well the updated forecast today is much better than it was last night. only 0.3m breakers bay and sheltered from the northerly. If you want to get out tonight it will be pleasant enough there tonight - colour me keen.

Is it really a viable option tonight?

I posted on another forum that I think a meet up would be great for saturday.
Maybe meet on Scorching Bay beach or at Worser Bay. We can have a look at your setup and hit a few different spots throughout the day.
I was thinking
meet up at 9-10 (happy to do earlier)
Try fishing in whatever order
Point Gordon
Kau Point
Falcon Schoals.

Whose keen?

RE: tonight. No way am i kayaking in that . I can see sheets sideways rain from my office. My kayak is long and skinny, certainly not something id like to be out in tonight.

GRATS ON THE RACKS!! :y:

yeah tonight is a bit nuts.. another night i'm keen or saturday morning. I have to be back by 11 for cricket on saturday unless its wet enough for the next couple of days to cancel it so i'd be looking to be on the water well before 7am.. will definitely have transport on sat and i don't mind where we meet up.

Cheers,
Anthony

How nice today!

I don't suppose anyone is heading out after work today and would have space for myself and my yak on their car? Please give me a txt if you're heading out and I could get a lift! 027 488 9799

Cheers,
Anthony
