Well 7am turned up and it was a cold and breezy morning at Makara. had some inkling of what it was going to be like when at 5:30 am my yak was frozen to the deck with the frost. anyay we geared up and headed out to an increasing wind and chill factor. headed north from the beach and nothing showing on the sounder at all. got abit up the coast and sat and pondered a while and in the process started to get a queasy stomach which combined with the wind and cold made the decision to head back not a hard one. dragged a lure on the drift back with nothing at all and got back in about 9 9:30 ish. took untill Jville untill my feet thawd out and the shower when i got home was great. but it was good to get out and have a paddle interesting when i popped the front hatch to get the battery out my neoprene cover was sucked back down into the yak. must have been from the crashing over the waves forcing air out and then not getting back in again.
