Packed ute for work thursday night, got to work and remembered I had left FF head unit and VHF at home, so a Kapiti adventure it was.
Sweet as weather, flatter than flat sea at times, crystal clear water. Heaps of just legal Blue Cod, and when the current was right was able to drift up a good ledge Jigging. Had a couple of good strikes, but only picked up a snap at 3kg.
Kept four bigger Blues and the snap of course.

Hey all.
I'm new in Palmy and heading to Welly Friday afternoon for the weekend to try for something other than Red Cod :(
Could I ask where you head out from at this Kapiti place and maybe some info on where you head too..?
Any other good spots one can try..?

kapiti is the coast which includes raumati, paraparaumu waikanai and up. the current fair rips through there so be prepared with a good anchor setup. you will notice the drop off from about 20m to 70m (in about 20m)and thats where the current is strongest. another place that is haveing good success is pukerua bay. head down to the boat ramp ... paddle out to beyond the rocks (about 20m deep) and fish away. varied species at the moment snapper, kahawai kings gurnard to name a few. current can also be quite strong as well
