Hi chaps and chapesses - sorta up or side graded to a hook4 so have my old hummingbird set up as surplus.
It worked last time it was on my yak about 8 months ago but it probably needs a new power cable and some tlc.
Comes with everything you need minus battery. But has scupper plug adapter set, Mount etc etc.
So many folk had helped my out hope someone wants to take advantage of this. Only proviso is I don’t wanna post it, a pick up is my preference, Balmoral area, and I don’t wanna see it back on the market!
Hope it might help a newbie have a bit more success and fun out on the water. Any takers?.

So now, after almost a year, I am penning the following report, on the Humminbird 525, so generously given to me, by the kind, Stinky Inky.

But first ! a salutary warning on Exposure: The reason I haven't been out since June, until yesterday, was that in June I went out and lost the feeling of my legs, 'twas so cold. They worked OK and I got home, 'yak on car roof, no worries, but some hours before feeling returned to legs.

My doctor said to me - Exposure. Be careful. His friend's daughter, 28 yrs old on the Tongariro crossing, felt fine couldn't feel the arms and legs but felt OK and kept on going, dropped dead.

Now to the 525 that Stinky gave me, it's works real well, had water over it, lovely.

But 1st time yesterday since June, no spark, oh well, everything must die... But I possess of the kind of education people used to get, where instant replacement of electric devices just didn't happen. so I went into fix it mode.

Check battery charge - -OK, check electron flow through cables, - -OK, Open head unit connect battery direct to power inputs inside case, screen fires up, - -OK, reassemble head unit, - -OK, connect battery direct to power inputs on outside case, screen fires up, - -OK, deduce that the issue is between power connecters on the head unit plugs and the mount unit screwed to bottom of Kayak, spray CRC into holes, jam a 5mm length of paper clip wire into each hole, connect and test, all working, bloody good!.

This is not a fancy unit, but once when anchored I noticed a fish stationed directly below the 'yak, I had an orange slider, bouncing on the bottom on a bendy rod, I pulled the line up a foot and let it go and repeated it a few times, and the fish on the finder went up and down also. So I guess the average fish is about the same density as an orange slider weight, to the 525 :)
