After reading the article, it makes really good sense.
It,s amazing how much us newbies (and not so newbies) take for granted, you never think about the what if moments
and after realising how easy it is for a kayak to drift off after a brief lack off concentration etc.....
As i dont have a Coastguard call sign as yet (doing the home study at the moment) one thing i will be doing this weekend is engraving my name phone and partners phone number on an aluminium plate and attatching it on the yak with a keyring, and even when i do have a call sign and the kayak marked with the call sign i will leave the tag there as it will make it easier for anyone to track down.
