I remember doing this back at school but can't say I've done it since. Would work really well with paddle pants though with them being waterproof!

Who needs a life jacket when you've got a good set of pants on? Michael Carr demonstrates the lost art of turning clothing into survival gear (in under a minute). (Note: of course, I am not advocating for not using a life jacket while boating. Life jackets always work better than pants.

I had to have a laugh because I tried to run that scenario through my head. I struggle to get my paddle pants off my feet with the tight seal at the ankles. I reckon I would drown attempting that plus leashes and line wrapped around my neck - a bloody train wreck is what pops to mind

But good to always have a back up!!!! :?:

My first thought too, I have fallen over attempting to get dry pants off with tight ankle seals, so doubt I'd get them off without sinking.

However if practiced, and used in conjunction with a pfd, could make floating a lot easier if you were in a situation where you may be in the water for some time as most pfds will only aid in keeping you afloat with lower boyancy ratings than a true "lifejacket"

I like others struggle to take them off on land  but at the end of the day if that is all you have available to you it'd be better than nothing or as PL said it may even make a good addition to your PFD too! :y:
