Someone recently told me that I had a pretty good year. I feel cheated by some fish, but other I did do pretty well at. With winter fast approaching in my neck of the world, it's a good time for some fishing review - or what little I have after loosing a camera off the boat....

my first smallmouth bass came out of fridged February waters (less than 40F)

The Irish Lord is a larger saltwater sculpin. This one was probably 2 inches shy of record. They're a very illusive fish and the ONLY one i've ever seen
Image

here's a larger saltwater sculpin we call the Cabezon. This one was just over 3.5kg. They're tasty and interestingly enough have a blue tinted flesh

Heading back to freshwater as the surf picked up, I fished for Walleye for my first time. I've gone out twice this year for walleye, and walluped quite a few of them!
Image

While walleye fishing I also picked up a freshwater flounder. I had heard of, but never saw one before
Image

There were also plenty of perch munching my bait too

Crabbing was decent this year (and at its best right now). I actually caught this guy on a jig while my crab pots were soaking. This happened during a kayak crabbing tournament! This crab got me 3rd place, and I was lucky. All of my crab pots were empty!
Image

Crabbing was better a couple weeks later. A weekend out with friends saw me bring home giant dungeness crab by the buckets

Back in March i flew across country to compete in the Georgia Kayak Tournament Trail. I was itching to catch my first striped bass. Sadly the waters were horribly muddy with zero visibility. 13 miles padding a Trident 11 in some swift current did find me a striper. Though small, it was the only checked in at the tourney, and helped me finish 7th out of over 50..

And naturally it was black rockfish galore all year out on the coast

and a double!
Image

and a triple hook up! (black rockfish, black rockfish, and a small cabezon)

I've been checking in here pretty regularly, but haven't had much to add to your guys' conversations. Hope you enjoy some pics from the opposite side of the Pacific, and with winter closing in here, I'll be here a bit more often.
