Where do I find FOAM BLOCKS?

Ive noticed on certain kayaks people have made Battery holders, Gaf holders, Anything really Out of foam that can be cut to shape. Where do I find this foam?. What do you cut it with? Any help would be great

Payless plastics ? I got some cut to help protect the car when loading... They also had a bin of offcuts for like $0.90 each which I'm sure you could cut up with a stanley knife...

A lot of appliances have foam blocks as packing.
