Tis Did. :y:

Slight delay whilst waiting for relay to be sent up (was beyond our local "You want fries with that?" Dick Smith franchise)

I was originally going for the 1100GPH, but wanted a little more life out of the battery and went with a Rule 500GPH, bit more expensive than Chris's but the Rules have proved themselves to me over the years in my various phases of stinkboat madness.

Switching was via a reed switch, no holes, no possible problems with water ingress.
Reed switch was encapsulated and mounted under the deck with some industrial hot glue I inherited. This stuff has proved itself to me on the Prowler when I mis-mounted a battery retaining mount and had hells-own job of getting it off the plastic.

Activation is by a Neo magnet (ex-hard drive) epoxied into a section of thinwall electrical conduit. Channel for deckline is a section of arrow shaft.

Rather than attaching pump directly to hull, I made up a thin ali sheet bracket and hotglued to bulkhead behind seat. Originally put tape on to maximise draw before sucking air, but found this made no difference so removed it for higher output.

Leads from reed switch pass through rear bulkhead to dry compartment, where encapsulated micro relay and battery reside.

Battery mount is packing foam, hotglued to floor and bulkhead, with 2" velcro to hold battery in whilst inverted.

As my hull isn't as roomy past the thigh braces as the standard cockpits, I needed a way of transferring the line to the existing bilge outlet (Didn't want to drill another hole) - more electrical conduit, lowish profile, non-crush...perfect.

And here's the outlet (19mm pump outlet via 25mm skin fitting) - Not enough to do battle in waterfights, but by the same token, less to blow back into my face and empties the cockpit of a typical re-entry volume in 2min.

Dick Smith isn't what it used to be ... that staff are all helpful but don't seem to know anything about components, and its rapidly becoming another appliance store.

Jay Car isn't bad . I picked up a 4-channel wireless remote relay block http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp ... rm=KEYWORD and some bits and pieces for a kayak related project last week and they were both helpful and knowledgable.

Certainly agree Tricky Dicky aint what it used to be. The local store only stocks audio plugs, and resistors, lots and lots of resistors |(

...Which is why I went to RS, cost a little more, but I know they have it on the shelf, and was here in 24Hrs ;)

Agreed, I had to fix a computer power supply and priced parts on the web. DSE had 3 values and not really what I needed, JayCar had the values, cheaper and also the right physical size too which made the job easier.

I suspected there was a minimum value purchase from RadioSpares? True? I didn't check but they should be the cheapest and certainly they have a much wider range of components including relays and reed switches for pumps (to bring us back on subject). Down in Chch SICOM is another good component supplier.

I have talked to a couple of DSE shops, and they are moving away from the componant sales into the higher end consumer products (more money I guess).

Nah, it's for electricals - anchor light, FF, u/w light, maybe a bait pump

Will be housed in a sealed box, with w/proof connectors, and I just plug battery into one end and devices into the other.

The remote fob will go in my water proof VHF case and presto, total control with no switches top side, and no need to open a hatch either :y:

Totally over the top, but that's why it's fun :)
