I'm a fan of Railblaza gear, but their rod holders are a little over-engineered for me. I prefer a simple rocket launcher for rod storage. Unfortunately, they don't make one, so I've knocked up a couple. Pretty easy.

Any bit of pipe of the right diameter will do, but it needs a firmly secured end cap. Alternatively, find a flat bottomed flush-mount rod holder like this: http://www.burnsco.co.nz/shop/shop-all/ ... ush-mount3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cut the top off. Drill and 6mm hole in the centre of the bottom. Add one of these and you're done: https://www.railblaza.com/products/attachment-adaptor/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Nice, simple and practical modification. Consider it plagiarised!

I did a similar thing ages ago for a drink bottle or bits a bobs holder, because I didnt like the one they made. I use it for hanging my lures on as well by the hook. I find the rod holders are a bit anoying sometimes when putting a rod into them . I was almost tempted putting the long scottys? on at one stage . wondering about angle for a diy holder, use pivot base or cut tube on an angle perhaps. cheers
