Here's where you get your hands dirty, so to speak. So if you like to build or customize things for the yak, this is your forum

Hi Guys, Can anyone give me an idea as to how to attach my Cobra 3300 hand held radio to my P13. I want it to be secure but easily available should it be needed. :?:

Hi Robin,

Can I suggest that you attach it to you, and not the kayak. If you get into trouble so bad you need to use your radio to get help there is a good chance that you have (or will) become seperated from your kayak.

Either put your VHF in a pocket of your PFD or attach it with a radio clip (should have come with your radio).

That's just my 2c's worth and I keep my VHF in my PFD pocket at all times.

Cheers, Mental

What he said.

If it gets in the way on the PFD, what about attaching a loop on the back of the PFD behind the head so you can reach over your shoulder and grab the VHF when needed?

Alternatively a long lanyard so you can sit it in your lap or beside you, and if you do go over, it'll at least be more accessible than if it was on the yak?

What PFD do you have?

I have two good size pockets in my PFD, one gets the 406, the other the VHF. I don't see any use in me and them not being together. ;)

Thanks Guys, I take the point about the radio being attached to me rather than the Yak and I do have a pocket big enough on my PFD. I do find though that the antenna ends up in my left nostril if I turn my head too quick! still better that than not having a radio at all.

I know exactly what you mean

I'm looking at those IPod armbands with a view to mounting it on the arm..
