I've had a bit of time off work with a new baby boy in the Family.
In between changing nappies and washing piss off my face :puke: I've been doing up my trailer.

The trailer is a full well side/canopy from a single cab Hilux that I picked up off Trademe a couple of years ago for $200.

From the front, a hooded 4 burner BBQ and battery powered rotisserie. This has already cooked a few mean feeds of roast chicken, pork etc.

On the roof, a set of Ibeam racks and the rear rack has a roller which makes for easy loading of the kayak. Simply lay the kayak beside the trailer, lift the bow to the rollers and rest it down then walk to the stern, lift and slide.

I have mounted a Railblaza star port on the front rack, slot in a rod holder and this houses the shower head nicely (and adjustable).
150 watt solar panel on the roof.

Underneath, spare tyre and a 100 litre water tank.
The tank is new but I scored it for free as 'the apprentice' drilled a hole somewhere that he shouldn't have and it was deemed irreparable.
A $10 expanding bung and some araldite fixed this. I'm yet to install a water pump but the budget has just run out......... You can drink a lot of beer when you're in the man cave all day.

Inside, carpeted and a false floor added.
Gear is stowed at deck level with a 150mm diameter down pipe to beef up the structure and give somewhere to stow rods.
I may add a rod rack to the underside of the roof at a later stage.

Power, I have a 28ah gel cell which I will need to upgrade at some stage, the trailer is also charged from the tow vehicle and draws power from this also.
I can simply disconnect a plug if I fear draining the car flat.
Interior lighting with a Led flood lamp.
Car stereo is installed in the batty box and I'll add a bus bar to add multiple devices as I choose.
The solar regulator has 2 X USB ports also.
.....and also tacked into the system a 2000 watt inverter.

A pair of 17 inch mags, some SUV tyres and half a dozen cans of aerosol paint to match the tow vehicle and now all I need is to get out there and enjoy it.

The whole project has cost less than $1200 as the likes of the water tank, the chassis were 'recycled'. Hopefully the finished project will come in at under $1500.

8) Brilliant , good skills and stuff with plenty of features mate.
Just a nagging worst case scenario (Fireman stuff ) about the BBQ rotisserie , is it removable easily to be free standing as is situ without a firewall and a fibreglass canopy with all that wiring etc. shes a fire hazard waiting to happen ;(
Thought your WOF compliance skills would have it spotted ?
Maybe a good extinguisher handy also -
Not being smart , genuine , as I've seen a few campground camper accidents is all :)

Cheers and keep up the good work

Good point paddlesnap.
I hadn't given much thought to that to be honest as it has been used for hours on end with no concerning heat (feel by hand on firewall).

It's nothing to do with a WOF unless it's simply insecure so not my forte

There's about 200mm clearance and the heat dissipates well, it is demountable in less than a minute but doesn't stand alone.

Is there such a thing as a fire blanket or similar that I could get for piece of mind?

.......and yes I have an abundance of fire extinguishers so there's always one in the car and makes sense to add one to the trailer.

8) Yeah if I'm honest , I've had a few near misses while Ute camping and having tailgate cook ups etc well fatigued after a big day out , from personal experience :tmi: and seen others
Yeah plenty of scope for losing the Vehicle or trailer if things go bad , so pays to keep in mind re separating the heat/flame source from from the bits you wouldn't want involved as it's often only an O-ring or fuse away from going up.

Cheers

Adding to PS paranoia with my own. I hope you remove the LPG cylinder when you sleep in the trailer?

Fantastic looking trailer. Motivates me to revisit my own.

Yeah, LPG bottle is removed and the void in the sleeping area filled with sistema boxes when sleeping.
It's amazing what condensation happens around a gas bottle.
