Post Best way to mount a garmin GPS???
Hi Guys

Just got a Garmin GPS 60. Am happy as with it, however am still scratching my head as to the best way of mounting it/ making a holder for it? I'm not that keen to use a mobile holder - want something abit more robust ect.

Any ideas where and how to mount it?

I have a Prowler 13 with the fish finder kit so I have the base plate - was thinking of mounting something to the side off the plate or even something in a cup holder - I have hit a mental wall!

Any help suggestions, pics or drawings will be gratefully recieved!

Thanks in Advance :)

I have the gps60 as well fitted in a mobile phone holder & just wrap the leash on it around the bracket it is attached to so if i do knock it off holder which I have done it is still attached. hope that is of some use to you.

ok.sweet. thanks. And how have you fitted the mobile holder to the 'yak? Just screwed it into the hull? or glued it to something? or made yourself a bracket? :?:

Grom, have a look at the rigged kayak section - Viking Espri, 8th topic down I think. The pole coming out the fwd centre hatch is a sanding/painting pole ( fibreglass) & I mount the gps & fishfinder on it. It use to extend but is now fixed.

Can you buy a marine mount for your Gps?... if you have a look at my kayak in the rigged section... I have a garmin etrex on a marine mount... works well fully adjustable..left,right,up,down and can swivel...

hahaha, I know where you got that pic from. ;)
I have a Garmin legend which I have made a bracket for out of thin PVC elbows.
Works realy realy well, and cost about $5.
If interested I can take pics, but wont bother if not. ;)

I had Garmin marine mount for my Gecko 201 and GPSMAP 60 - but it snapped !

If you want something tougher, then there is a RAM mount available for the GPS 60 - the cradle used a diamond mount, so you could attach the following to a P13...
