Where to clip leashes?
I've got a reload, with a paddle, 2 rods, landing net and a fish club all having leashes I'm struggling to find places to attach them to on the yak. Any bright ideas? I was considering trying to find a stainless steel rail (like a miniature towel rail) to fix to the tackle pod to give a common attachement point.?.

I've attached small bow shackles to some of the pad eyes on my P400, easy to clip leashes onto these. Also clip things onto the seat clips.

I use a short piece of 2mm spectra cord crimped into a figure 8 (copper crimp, not aluminium). This is fitted to the seat saddle and can easily take multiple clips...

Why not alloy? Too weak?

The cord tends to act as a wick and keep the crimps relatively wet inside promoting corrosion. As the alloy crimps corrode they produce a white oxide that occupies a lot of space, swelling the crimp and splitting it. To make matters worse white corrosion on a silver crimp is harder to see, so by the time you realize you have a problem it can be too late.MikeAqua wrote:Why not alloy? Too weak?
Copper crimps are marginally more expensive, but they're stronger for longer. In addition the green verdigris of copper corrosion is distinctly visible, so you know when you have a problem and can give them some care and attention.

I have a reload as well. I use one clip attached to the seat on a short lead and also one attached to the tacklepod handle. I also have different coloured leashes so i know whats what when they get tangled...which they do.....a lot....

.......and I hate to admit it but this is why my paddle and 2 rods get leashed, any extra gear which is usually one or 2 more rods are elected to be sacrificed to the gods should I turtle.
