Re: Paddle technique

Thanks for all the discussion all, I am reading along. I've got some technique bits to work on after watching all these videos and understanding what the body rotation etc is supposed to achieve.

Re: Big Paddle - Anyone interested?

Does the slow jig hook up much? I've not had any success, though I'm told I need to get it down in the sand more.

How do you get to those rods up front when at sea? Do you have go go gadget arms?

Looks good though, good luck out there :)

Re: Most USEFUL rod holder position for paddle kayak

Side rod holders on the Ultra 4.3 get a lot of use in my kayak. I normally run with two rods, sitting in the rear holders when paddling. While fishing one usually comes forward and sits there with a small jig being slowly moved about by the swell, and the other is either in my hand or on the other s...

Re: Kohi Sun Apr 5

Looks like you have the treble hooks on the diving lure still. Do you find them OK to work with? I have a little diving lure that was picking up tons of small kahawai and snapper but I found unhooking the trebles a real pain, especially when the second one foul hooks the fish as well. Unfortunately ...

Nice work. How are you getting the camera pointed in the right direction underwater, can you see what's going on down there or just guess?

I pull mine rather less than that, but took it apart this weekend and was amazed at the amount of salt and sand build up in there after only a few trips.

Paddle technique

Hey all, hope you're having a great Easter. It has only recently come to my attention that not everyone gets themselves soaked on a gentle paddle through dead calm harbour conditions. Of course, I do. This started me reading and watching some videos like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS2RohH...

Not just you. Have seen a lot of very small snaps this summer, sometimes nothing at all, but then when you find them it's all on again.

Great pics of the kids, looks like they are already in their high vis camo gear ready for a stalk in the bush!

Re: FCO Planning to Close its 13 NZ Stores !

I've picked up a few bits and pieces here and there from them but I do find it to be one of those stores that has so much different stuff they aren't much of an expert in anything. I have other favourite shops for camping, hunting and fishing gear where I've been looked after with good advice before...

Re: handheld gps

As for recommendations, I have the Garmin 62s which I got for bush hunting and it's been great. Gets good signal, built like a brick. I haven't really used it on the water much though.

Re: About that lid...

Heh, makes sense. There's a good overview here of someone cutting it out and installing a hatch there:

My Ultra 4.3 Rigging & Mod Thread... (Lots of Pics!)

I'm not sure I'd want to have it open to the internals like that, but I'm sure some sort of container in there could be arranged.
