This is exactly the injury I had last year which ended in surgery. I hope for your sake it doesn't end under the knife, as it's a pretty slow recovery. I'm still not back to 100% strength, and to be honest doubt it ever will be. If it does though, I have a suggestion you ask to be awake for the surg...

I head down there a couple times a year for work, and last time I was there would have been a perfect time to get out
5knots, almost no swell, looked stunning
Can't see it being a problem as long as you pick your weather windows carefully
