Re: Online swap meet, anyone?

I have a Burnsco FF battery I am happy to trade. It hasn't even been used on the water.

Re: Kayaks and Currents - Harbour Paddlers especially.

Damn, that's scary. While nothing quite at the scale of San Francisco, I watched a kayaker paddle frantically against the ebb tide at the entrance to Whangamata harbour over the weekend to make it back inside. It took them quite a long time, including a few breaks, to go about 300 metres and they in...

Re: Anyone catching?

Been out here and there since christmas but haven't been slaying it. Lots of small stuff. Have hit up a number of new (for me) places in Coromandel, Auckland and up Leigh ways. Most trips am coming back with one or two for the table but they have all been pretty slow days. I put that down to my inex...

Re: Weather resources et al.

Whoa that earth.nullschool.net is cool. Kinda like the windy app.

I also use predict wind, and windy, both as phone apps. I sometimes use windguru for the cams.

I also have a tendency to look at trees and see how much they are rustling. Not to mention the odd flag. :D

Re: AKL Harbour Bridge 26/1

Nice catch, man!

I've had Conger sushi before, it's pretty good.
I caught one not long ago in the harbour but my mate was determined it was NOT coming on board his boat. :tmi:

And yeah, fishing at dawn is the business!

Marine Reserves

How close is too close? I have fished some spots recently with marine reserves in close proximity (with no notable fish I might add :drunk: ) and due to wind or current, drifted pretty close to the boundaries before shifting away again. It got me thinking about the etiquette surrounding this and am ...

Trip tomorrow (13/01/18)

Is anyone in the Auckland area going out tomorrow morning that wouldn't mind a tag along? I do most of my fishing by myself which is nice, but would be cool to meet some other kayakers. I don't mind traveling a bit, but if no-one's keen I'll probably hit up Leigh. I'm only a little bit weird, I prom...

Reports, intel etc

Hey guys. Do any of you follow reports or pages or social channels about certain areas and what they are fishing like? If so, what are some of the things you follow, or check regularly? Which ones tend to be better than others? Of course, there is no substitute for time on the water in a certain are...

Re: Faulty FF, or just me?

Check if transducer making ticking sound if not could be faulty. If ticking I would try going out for paddle to about 10 meters and put transducer in water to see if will works (you could have air bubbles in silicone) If still not working return it and buy a new hook2 4 due in stores December Sent f...

Re: Faulty FF, or just me?

Cool, will do. Thanks.

I don’t know anyone else with a transducer that I could try it out on unfortunately.

I have emailed the place I bought it from so I guess I’ll wait to see what they say.

Looks like I’ll be fishing old school this weekend!

Faulty FF, or just me?

Hey guys. Can anyone confirm that this is a faulty unit? It's chopping and changing between depths and lagging on screen. Won't show a depth reading. It's 3 months old and I have used it maybe 4 times. It was working great to begin with. In the last month I haven't used it at all but noticed this on...

Smoked kahawai on toast with poached eggs and a rotating cast of other breakfasty foods - whatever is handy - tomato, avocado, bacon, hot sauce, hollandaise, mayonnaise, and whatever fresh herbs are in the garden.

Re: Kapiti Island - 20/10/17

Cheers TBreezy, it had been a 6 months since my last Kingie and before that I was getting them on a regular basis when based up in Auckland. It had been tough going down in Welly and I had paddled the 8km over to Kapiti before to try to get a Kingie with no luck. So when it all came together this t...
