Re: Narrowneck 16 Dec

Twas a glorious morning for sure, even the boat traffic wasn't too bad by NN standards.

However you forgot to show that your fish bag was empty before launching, thus all 7 fish are void.

Better luck next time.

Re: 400 vs Reload

Reload is a bit longer and hence a little faster. Main difference however is the removable tackle pod which is awesome. Reload is going to be heavier and more of a mission to load/unload depending on your setup. If you can grab a cheap reload on TradeMe, and the extra weight & length isn't going to ...

Re: Drift Distance

I'm a lazy drifter, I'll often just do one big drift for 3 hours, then paddle home.

If I find a good spot I'll do multiple drifts over it however.

Re: Auckland Marathon - Not again!

How was the wind?

Windy said 22km ish which usually means I spend more time paddling back up for a drift than actually fishing - thus I flagged it for Sunday :(

Auckland Marathon - Not again!

Yesterday was too windy for NN, so I decide to try for Sunday. I head out about 5:15am in unusually heavy traffic. As I get closer to NN I see police cars, flashing lights, people standing around - still the penny doesn't drop, I just think there has been an accident. Then I remember the same shit h...

NN 21/10 Train Station

All Aboard! 6am at the ramp and it was the busiest I've ever seen Narrow Neck; boats and kayaks everywhere. Mitch and I launched and headed straight out in perfect conditions - light winds and overcast. The next 2 hours proved very frustrating as boat after boat roared by at full pace, I couldn't ge...

Well done!

Half the fun is trying all different baits, lures, rods, reels, lines, etc and seeing what works best for you.

Re: Minimum Requirements Handheld VHF

I couldn't find a VHF small enough to fit on my PFD without being a hassle. I also 99% fish close to shore. So I just got a standard VHF which I put in my reload tackle pod, and carry a cheap smart phone on my PFD (in a water proof bag), which is much smaller and lighter than any VHF. You can pick u...

I think its just luck if u stumble onto the bigger ones at NN. I put bck a lot of babies too. The 2 biggest were caught on softbait.

NN - 04/10 Weekday Wonderland

So I had a job cancelation for Thursday, making the workload a little light - and so was the wind forecast. You know what that means... Lovely overcast day with nobody around. Perfect drift along the edge of the buoys without even needing the cute. Tried a new slider with a flashing light in the hea...
