WANTED: Profish 400 lite.

I'm after a Profish 400 lite (or maybe a reload)

Prefer the Auckland area for pickup, but can travel a bit.

Cheers.

Extra points if it's red/black ;)

Re: Viking or Ocean Kayak?

The more I think about it, the more I think a Profish 400 would be ideal.

I don't go out too far, and luv exploring close in to headlands etc, so something a bit smaller and more maneuverable could be the answer.

Re: Viking or Ocean Kayak?

- Primarily the waitamata/manukau harbour with non-surf launching. - I want to troll lures. - No diving - Softbaits/lures only, don't normally burley. - Don't stand up, though giving the bum a break would be nice. - 2-3 rods. - Normally fish within 2-4 km of launch site. - Using a roof rack on work ...

Viking or Ocean Kayak?

So I'm looking to upgrade my 'old' yak. I've been kayak fishing for about 6 months now and I'm ready to get a little bit serious. ;) I keep flip flopping between a reload/440 or a Prowler 4.3/4.7. It seems they are all good yaks and I'm sure lots of people have great things to say about them. What I...

Re: Paddle

For $100 on tradeMe I picked up a Lendal carbon shaft, nylon reinforced blade, touring paddle.

I recommend carbon shaft, nylon blades for fishing. Good compromise of weight and ruggedness.

Sure, if you can find it. Still not sure what I'm going to end up doing.

Re: Drilling into fiberglass kayaks

Looks great!

It's surprising these yaks don't come with at least some sort of mount for a running rig.

Re: WTB: Backrest for stealth kayak

Yup, ended up buying a mission from Canoe & Kayak - works great. My back was getting sore without one.

Whangaparaoa Peninsula

I'm headed to Whangaparaoa Peninsula for new years.

Just wondering where a good spot for a solo newbie kayak fisher would be?

I heard Army Bay is good?

Not looking to go out too far while I'm still learning what the hell I'm doing :)

Drilling into fiberglass kayaks

Bought myself a Stealth EVO 465.

It doesn't have a running rig, so I'll have to fit one.

Whats the best way to do that? Screws, rivets?

I'm not going to be able to get to the other side for a back-plate unless I cut holes, which I don't want to do.

Tell ya what, I wouldn't need a phone or VHF - they'd easily hear my screams from shore ;)

Re: Looking to upgrade - Stealth Kayaks

I went with a 2nd hand Evo 465.

Feels more tippy than my old scrambler, but so much faster!

Hoping a few hours of paddling around the shorelines will get my body used to it before I start going out fishing.

Running Rig - cockpit to stern?

I bought a new kayak which doesn't have a running rig, so I'll have to install one. Question is... do you really need it to go to the bow? I only intend to anchor from the stern, so was thinking of having it run from cockpit to stern only. Less rope = less things in the way to get tangled on. How of...
