Attaching New Flag

I've been fishing at Narrow Neck, and with all the traffic around there I have reluctantly been using my safety flag. I say reluctantly because I think it looks like something off a Raleigh-20 from the 1980's. As luck would have it my jig snagged the flag on the way home and it's gone. So I bought a...

Narrow Neck Newb

I've been trolling through old posts on NN for information, but still have a few Q's.

Drifting with soft-baits seems to be the go. Can you jig there or is there too much foul?

What's it like at low tide, from both a launching and fishing viewpoint?

Cheers.

Re: Disposing of fish carcass at sea

I have a big section and just dig a hole out the back and bury everything. I'm bad enough at filleting onshore, I would probably slice my leg open trying to do it on a yak. I was thinking of picking up an old freezer, then I could chuck it all in a plastic bag and freeze it for burley for the next o...

Re: Easter Plans

Went for a 'quick' fish at French Bay this morning. Caught my first Hammerhead and 2 x Bronzies. (released) Hammerhead broke one of my rods. (worth it) Ended up staying 7 hours. Caught at least a dozen under size snapper and took home 3 fat Kahawai for dinner. Any recommendations on a decent but not...

Almost got out at 6am this morning.

Then a heavy shower came down and I went back to bed.

Lame. :(

Easter Plans

Hopefully the weather will calm down a bit :@

What is everyone's fishing plans for Easter?

I'm mulling over Army Bay or Narrow Neck at the moment.

Or maybe I'll just buy some new gear and watch the rain.

Re: Securing battery in tackle pod

I bought the full transducer mounting kit from Viking. http://www.vikingkayaks.co.nz/shop/accessories/kayak+fishing+accessories/fish+finder+diy+install+kit+for+profish+reload+2280" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It came with the straps for securing a battery. So mine is strapped into ...

Best Rod & Reel brand(s).

Best Rod & Reel brand(s). I'm looking at buying a slow jig setup. However there are so many brands and price points it's almost overwhelming - Shimano, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Okuma, Penn, Jarvis Walker, Fin-Nor, TiCA, Kilwell... What do you guys recommend? I'm looking for a top quality brand around the ...

Re: With so many choices, why a kayak?

I luv paddling - I like the motion of it and the fitness from it.

Which is the reason I haven't bought a pedal yak even though they are probably better suited to fishing.

If I want to pedal I'll buy a bike.

Re: Anyone listening to music while fishing?

I use a Creative MUVO 2 water proof bluetooth speaker placed behind my seat, and an old Moto G waterproof cell phone that actually has a built in FM radio (no need for data). Works excellent. At first I tried various earbuds, but they take you away from the environment too much, and kept falling out...

Re: Rods and nets how long is too long ?

Currently using a 7" rod for soft-baiting, then a 7" and a 6.3" for slow jigging.

Jigging is where it's at though, probably spend 90% of my time with that now.

I bought one.

I figure at that price even if it only lasts a season or 2 it's worth a look.

I was wondering if any one had used any of their gear before?

WANTED: Profish 400 lite.

I'm after a Profish 400 lite (or maybe a reload)

Prefer the Auckland area for pickup, but can travel a bit.

Cheers.

Extra points if it's red/black ;)
