Skis good mate. Mixing between that and a mates boat. Had a massive day not long ago, used over 90L and caught very little lol

Have to say, I miss not going to these. When I had the yak it was always a great weekend away.

22nd July, snapper

Hey guys, not a yak report, but thought it worth a share. Friday was SO MINT after some much crap weather. Went out on a mates boat early, and did a bit of messy fishing to start. Check the video... After that, had dolphins and gannets, with plenty of fish on softies. Mid winter huh, fishing was as ...

Re: Cals Drag Grease

Sweet. I have the shimano stuff here, just checking whether it's worth getting cals as well. I had a pretty nasty wet drag here the other day, pulled out the washers, gave them a dry and put some grease on them. Went from 'NASTY STICKY' drag, to nice and smooth. This was a very cheap reel - the $40 ...

Re: The reel you

For me, with reels it's a mix of ..., servicability and .... .... Agree with Nemesis with this one too. This is the reason I check out the parts diagrams of all the reels I consider and ask myself the question "Is this a reel I want to pull apart to service?" hehe, I do exactly the same thing, apar...

How does Cals compare with the shimano grease?

Re: The reel you

I think my biggest thing is that whatever I buy, I feel I can trust. That it does what I expect.

As soon as I lose 'trust' in my tools, I get rid of them. Be that reel, rod, braid or whatever.

Loving it mate. Not sure I'm like the rod I have it on though, the synit SB rod. Just a bit lazy through the tip. Might switch it out and use the klabs I have here.

Re: "Container Door" Fishing Kayak

I'd be very cautious with them. There are a couple of great NZ made options that I'd much prefer.

Re: My trusty rod has seen better days

It'd be worth having a chat with Kev (awondering), and seeing if he has anything that would suit what you're after. He does the klabs rods http://klabs.co.nz/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , is a supporter of the site and an all around good guy. A large number of people on this site...

Re: Firth of Thames - Bloody gusts and swell

Was out at Mayor on the ski Sunday. Nasty short chop (not big) gave the body a workout, and still feeling it now. Got about a 15kg +/- kingie on a puka rig at 250M. In the bin after bleeding with it's tail sticking out, it did a final 'kick' and knocked the rod out of the holder and into the drink. ...
