Re: My trusty rod has seen better days

It'd be worth having a chat with Kev (awondering), and seeing if he has anything that would suit what you're after. He does the klabs rods http://klabs.co.nz/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , is a supporter of the site and an all around good guy. A large number of people on this site...

Re: Firth of Thames - Bloody gusts and swell

Was out at Mayor on the ski Sunday. Nasty short chop (not big) gave the body a workout, and still feeling it now. Got about a 15kg +/- kingie on a puka rig at 250M. In the bin after bleeding with it's tail sticking out, it did a final 'kick' and knocked the rod out of the holder and into the drink. ...

Whats the deal with needing a sinker? Is that a depth issue?

Re: Kayak seats

When I had my PF400 (I think I used it on the 440 too), I ended up getting one of the 4.3's foam seats and using that. Worked wonders!

Man that's a bad one! I always get pricks and cuts whenever if fish without gloves now. I tend to just use em all the time, on boats and everywhere. Kayaking got me used to it and find it normal now

Re: Trolling livebaits for kingfish

Hey mate, i would try using a light gauge hook like a mustad penetrator and just troll with say 1-1.5kg of drag. assuming your using mackeral for livies? Or give those release clips a go an fish the rod infront of you so you see the clip pop. As an easy bridle i used to tie a short length of light ...

Re: Winterize your boat !

I got some sharkskin gear and find it fantastic. Wore the top on Saturday (jetski) and found even at 7am going 100km/h it didn't let the wind through. Actually ended up overheating once we stopped, although it was a nice day. Before that I used (and still do actually) semi-dry tops and bottoms. Lets...

Crickey!! Are you using a Stella or something?
Nah man, that's 2 complete sets (including braid).

My SB set and my deep water set. The Saltiga 40 2speed added quite a bit to the price, esp since you can't buy it locally.
