Re: Blue Mako F40 Profish vs Cobra Marauder

Yeah just depends what you want it for - the odd casual trip or serious fishing. IMO, to some degree at least, you'll get what you pay for. Check the guarantee times for both - I think Viking for example, have 30 years or something?? Ok, I did it myself as I was interested. Blue Mako: Two year retur...

If I were buying again, I'd be going Reload. Have had the 440 and 400, and both were nice.

Re: Discounted PLB group-buy for KFNZ members.

Thanks for that. I'm thinking about the ACR one. Nice and small. I do much of my fishing from a Jet Ski now days, and do some pretty big trips (60km out). My handheld VHF is pretty useless at the best of times (just outside Raglan bar for example, can't contact the CG) so I think this is a no-braine...

Re: Reel knob

When jigging, I personally prefer to have a T knob rather than a round one. Better grip, and I also found the round one gave me blisters (soft computer hands).

If I was going to put a new knob on, that's the way I'd go!

Re: Whos hand does this hook belong to

I've only had one hook in past the barb, and it was a small treble. Like most, was from a Kahawai. Man it hurt!!!
There are a few youtube vids on how best to remove hooks. Pretty hard solo in your hand though

Nice mate, I like it. How much pressure can you have it put out? IE, only good for light braids, or can you do enough for 50/80lb ?

Just started using the Catch pe2 set up and :inlove: it Been using the Catch pe5 jig set up the softbait set up for a while now and they're going strong :y: I just got one of those too (PE2). Quite different to my previous set I was using, and it's taking me a bit to get used to the lever drag. Not...

Re: The kingfish that didn't want to die

Bummer. You don't bleed your kingies? Normally do but the spot were fishing is well known for big sharks and the odd white so don't like to much blood hanging around  Fair call. Lost a couple of nice ones on Friday due to sharks - maybe bleeding my first one brought them around. Just find th...

Re: With so many choices, why a kayak?

Why I fish out of a kayak - cheap, easy to launch, no maintenance, stealth, and can fish in places where boats don't... Why I fish out of a boat - fish with family, fish the further out, and deeper spots... Why I (used to) fish off a jetski - one word - speed! All valid - I only have a jetski now d...

Best thing I ever did was get a trailer. That's after buggering my shoulders and rusting half my car roof! Would never just put one on a car again.
