Re: NE Side of GB - First Kingi!

Well done that man! Awesome fish.
As an aside try using your paddle to keep your kayak straight - much faster than relying on your rudder but practice always helps :y:

Re: Spare Paddle..?

Since getting my Reload ~20 months ago (and a fibreglass split shaft with it) I have always carried it with me as a spare. I use a one piece fibreglass as my main paddle for all my surf beach launches and a two piece carbon for sheltered launches and hence my long offshore paddles. It is not uncommo...

Or Marlin.
I haven't been out since the comp mate. Combination of excuses - away for easter, the weather and going hunting next week. Super keen to chase them just too much on

Re: Taranaki TRs

Given some discussion has been asked for I will try and put in words what I feel about the situation. Yes a good open forum like this is a good place to discuss things and perhaps I should have spelled them out in my first post instead of making a fuss about not commenting and trying not to let the ...

Re: Taranaki TRs

For my weekend - I launched off the Cape on Saturday morning and paddled down to my spot. Berley deployed I proceeded to catch snapper to just over 5kg, trevally to just under 2kg and the odd kawhai. Lost a couple of screaming runs in the weed. Caught a couple of undersize cod and was hanging out fo...

4am launch over the Tonga bar, pitch black, are we gonna go for it ? Yep lets do it! F :swear: k in the background one down, crabman stays behind to help dodge while two of us go like the clappers to get through the never ending white wall in front of us, we got through. Re: 9kg Albacore Tuna off the Taranaki Port

That is fantastic. Has anyone tried canning / bottling their own tuna? Looks easy - ish and amazingly delicious. Would Kingfish work the same way? Damn fine catch sir. I do Scooter. In fact I have just imported a big all american pressure canner so I can do big batches of 16 x pint jars at once ins...

Sitting in the lounge in south taranaki with the lights out watching TV last night and had a perfect clear view of it out the ranch slider. Amazing brightness and length of tail. Sure did light up the night sky. Wicked!
Interesting rain radar destin. Never seen that either

Sorry to the locals who call the bay home but I haven't heard anything good about the fishing over there. Large commercial fishing fleet right there to compete with. Certainly the couple of times I had my kayak over there it was desolate. NAKI NAKI NAKI NAKI!!! You won't be disappointed. Anywhere yo...

Re: cautionary tale

My mate (a ginga) had this happen to him on one of his first trips out. 2deg burns to the entire front of both shins and inside lower thigh. The whole lot peeled in sheets. Still scarred four years later. I buy cheap red shed polyprop leggings for my legs in summer and they work well as you can spla...
