Okuma Komodo 364

Hi, selling this honey of a baitcaster. It's an Okuma Komodo 364, has stainless steel gears, 11 ball bearings, 11 kgs of drag (carbon fibre), spool driven level wind (means that the levelwind always stays lined up with line going out, meaning no harsh line angles under load when lines going off the ...

Re: buying fish finder/ chartplottrt from Ebay

Just be aware that almost all chartplotters are now "geolocked" so won't work outside of region of purchase.
You can buy an unlock key, but it will cost almost as much as the unit itself.
For a FF, that's not applicable.

Re: Chinese reels - Opinions? Experiences?

It's very much a case of you get what you pay for, less any local support in terms of parts and service. One of the things going for any of the locally distributed brands is that they do have excellent back up, parts and service available for when things wear out, as well as testing products for loc...

Or these, not a microjig really, but a bait jig, come in a 3 pack and rigged with singles, not trebles as shown.

Re: Are we loosing the "brotherhood "??

The original article, and it's premise, I have seen in another sport that I have been actively involved in for far too long, although the active part of my involvement has kind of gone by the way, but I am still involved. That sport is cycling, and much of what has been pointed out in the article, h...

Some good pointers here for Milford -

But I'd also suggest that you want to change your gear a little. Not that Blue Cod fight overly well, its the other critters that will make life interesting.

Windy - Two thumbs up, I've been running it for a couple of seasons now, and it's the quacker's knackers.
Also the app for it is useful and very friendly.

Re: Jigging rod length?

I'd pair it with the Metaloid 200-350gm OH model, it's 5'0 and has a great action. If jigging go short, far easier to work the jigs with. I have been using that rod paired with an Andros 5ii and it's certainly done the business. Sweet spot for me was jigs 250 gram to 300 gram. It has a ton of power ...

Re: Lowrance FF Questions

The other thing to add to what has already been mentioned is that the transducer projects as a cone, with a defined beam angle. Beam width depends on lots of things, like frequency and transducer model, but it's worth remembering that the whats on the screen can be quite a way from you depending on ...

Re: affiliation

What are the "serious benefits"? I find it difficult to convince myself let alone anyone else that it worth while joining and paying a fee to a club. All I want to do is go out , spend some "me " time away and catch a feed occassionally. Not interested in killing fish for the cance of winning a set...

Re: affiliation

I just had a look through the yearbook, and couldn't see any kayak clubs that were. It's a funny one, as I suspect that most of the clubs won't want to pay affiliation fees, etc, and function very well outside the Sportfishing Council, so affiliating serves little purpose for the clubs, apart from i...

Re: Question re cleaning

I leave my rods fully assembled and rinse them as you describe - no issues at all so far, so don't see any need to change what I do. I only change leaders when they have seen a lot of action or are looking worse for wear. I'm pretty uptight about hooks though, if they're anything but sticky sharp, ...

Some lowlife stole my C-Tug

Was fishing out of Waiti today, and a chap who I fish with came in about an hour earlier than me around mid-day, and used my C-Tug to retrieve his yak, and then left it, as per my instructions, tucked well out of sight, under the front of my truck, which was parked in facing the bank. I came in abou...

Re: Side scan for P400

The side scan transducer won't fit in the scupper of a 400, they are big beasts, and as Mike points out need to be clear of the hull to work well. They have a lobed beam to either side, instead of the more normal cone.
