Is there a better shape formula for us newbies to try please? I'm thinking the one above might actually be a bit too complicated and a simpler shape that's actually easier to achieve might work just as well, but it's just an uneducated hunch. Seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-vahYCW6Fs

I float a PF400 and love it. I'm thinking of stretching out the paddling distance and targeting deeper water species. I'm leaning towards a 440. I note there are some guys here who have 'traded down' from a 440 to a 400. Actually I don't think there is such a thing as trading down with a Viking, but...

I use 3mm flat braid. You can buy bulk on TM for sod all. 3mm means you can get a fair old amount on the standard issue plastic winder.
