Re: Bloody sore bum

Might be your pedfle length needs adjusting. I had to add a couple of layers of yoga mat to the back of my seat to get my legs bent at the right angle for comfort. You can pad out the rudder pedals to get the same effect.

Hook2 7x swap for 5" version?

I have an almost new 7x Hook2 on my Stealth. The splitshot transducer is glued in the hull. I have found it to be bigger than I need and I wish to change to the hatch lid with the built in FF pod.. so if anyone is wanting a 7" unit but wants to pay only the 5" price I will swap head units. I have th...

Re: 750 or 1500g Anchor

I have only used an anchor off a yak a couple of times , however I have 4m or more of chain. 750g grapnel was more than enough .
Nothing like in a strong current though.

Re: Seeking your wisdom - buying a 2nd hand yak

I can endorse the Stealth kayaks. Love mine. I have the fat heavy Fisha 500,(well compared to the other models it is!)
Ryan is at Gulf Harbour and has models available to try . Be careful, they are addictive. You won't believe how light and easy handling the 460 model is.

Re: WTB Kayak trolley Wheeleez Beach wheels

I could be offering up my Wheeleez Mini Kayak Kart , I want the bigger full size tires to help keep my under slung non retracting rudder off the pavement. They are a good bit of gear .

Re: Anyone been out lately

Yep. Out from Martin's Bay yesterday morning with the North Shore Kayak Fishing Club , did well. Nothing huge but the fish we're there in patches. I was lucky enough to blunder on a good area, some others not so much. :)

Re: Yak hard-body lure starter pack recommendations please.

Yes , single hooks on the Manic Prey. When I hear a strike I paddle a few hard strokes whilst turning in the direction the rod is on , hopefully sets the hook(s) and gets the line angled out away and not directly behind when I get the rod out of the holder

Re: Drogue/Sea anchors

The yellow pvc ones the Warehouse sold for around $25 would do you fine. Add a float, they will sink, you don't want it to end up underneath you, other retailers will stock them , MarineDeals do. 18" or 24" size.

Nice day. I only kept two around 35 cm. Could have had a limit bag of 30 cm fish and a load of sub legal snaps! I know of one decent kingi landed amongst all the rats around the saddle island reefs.

Re: Kayak Fishfinder - GPS - Sounder Recommendations

Your $500 would get you a Garmin Striker 5 , basic GPS ( not charts) chirp and down vision. I had one on my previous kayak and think the picture and the overall quality is superior to the Hook2 unit I have now. You'll still need a battery and charger plus a few miscellaneous bits a pieces for mounti...
