Re: Snapper survival

If internal organs were damaged, the fish will die, if not, it has a good chance to survive. Much research been done on this, but we still can not really predict when a fish will live or die... things such as rapid pressure changes and time out of the water appear to be more hazardous to fish than l...

Re: Pretty colours

Very nice! I really wanted a blue one, just like that... however, if I may ask (apparently my post have some rough edges  )... Safety wise? It is very difficult to see that colour on the sea (hence my awful yellow/orange PF400)... or do you just fly an orange flag and where a bright hat/jacket ...

Re: Fishings great but the economics suck.

I said NOTHING of small retailers 'making too much money'... The question was why a reload in USA is so much cheaper than in NZ? I pointed out that a big part of the difference is mark-ups at the retail level. How profitable your business is depends on your business plan and how you execute it... d...

Re: Fishings great but the economics suck.

You completely missed my point... I did not say Viking is taking a huge mark-up did I? I said the retailers do. How is my example bad? My rod example is real and it is applied to many retail businesses, not just fishing and hunting. Viking is innovating and I am willing to pay Viking for their inno...

Re: Fishings great but the economics suck.

Late on this topic... sorry. We miss the BIG elephant in the room... The MASSIVE mark-ups we pay at our retail shops! Do not blame Viking, they are only protecting their dealers. Im sorry mate, I have kept out of this but you are <img src="./images/smilies/emoticon-0183-swear.gif" alt=":swear:" tit...

Re: Fishings great but the economics suck.

We miss the BIG elephant in the room... The MASSIVE mark-ups we pay at our retail shops! Not long ago a bought a rod... and when smooching the sales girl for discount she checked the prices... and I peered over her shoulder... wholesale cost of rod, $79,99, sales price $199,99. Going down the list ...

Re: are snapper bottom feeders

Long answer: Look at their teeth... some have sharp and long teeth... means they prefer fish as food, live anywhere from the surface to the bottom. Others have short little stumps... means they prefer shellfish and rubbish on the floor. Their teeth have been grounded down by crushing hard shells. Bu...

Re: Matata 28-2

Best day is tomorrow 28 th.... Sunday the winds are picking up with rain and Monday and Tuesday will be bad (if you trust the weatherman). Re: Securing rods on a profish

I break my two pieces into their sections, lie them onto the bait board and then use old fashioned bicycle/books bungee cords (few dollars at any hard ware store) and hook the Blue ones (long) diagonally across the loops around the rods that secure the bait board and yellow ones (short) across the b...
