Malibu 2xl or Viking 2+1

Hi all - the kids are loving coming out but I feel mean putting them in the back of the 4.1! I'm keen to track down a second yak - preferably Malibu 2xl or Viking 2+1. Budget goes to $900. If anyone is thinking of offloading one of these - please PM me. Cheers

Great summary Kerry - you should be the poster boy for Tourism NZ's reasons to head north!

Smoking eye fillets

Hi all, Have just purchased one of the UFO cold smokers and attached it to the BBQ. I have visions of smoking a 1-2kg fillet of steak and then cutting it up for some gourmet rolls for some mates to enjoy while the rugby plays. Does anyone have some good ways to cook ie 7-8 hours low temp or shorter ...

Re: Thoughts on this topic

I think it is just good old fashioned change management - for things like this it will take 20 - 30 years to work it's way through fully and that is the time it takes a generation of kids to grow up wearing their life jackets at all times. No different to how long it has taken to get adults into ras...

Re: Bait v soft bait

Went out with kids and friends on a not-a-kayak kind of boat yesterday. We were near the ah ahaas? Used pilchards and squid mainly and caught a heap of yellow tail and small snapper. I took a break from that and through out a 6" gulp paddle tail and in came the largest snapper of the day. All up was...

St Heliers can be hit and miss but is always good paddling around the cliffs.

Love the setup. Do you move the rod holders into the railblazers on the hatch when you are on the water?

St heliers 27.5

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369600803.551541.jpg The afternoon looked reasonable and one of the boys had been keen to go out so we headed down to St Heliers for a quick fish from 4-5. Using baits rather than softies and he caught both of them - his first "legal" fish. Went home a happy boy but donated ...

Re: What's in a name?

I started out with Notintheoffice as that was part of the intention when I bought the kayak - a great way to get some balance. A little while later I was putting something on the kayak and talking with my 5 year old about boats and how a lot of them have names - he thought Jerry was a great name for...

Re: True Hi-Tech Kayaks - Advanced Materials

Just to clarify, entry level is relative for this product and is no different to the reason Porsche introduced the boxster. They needed people to buy into the toned down version knowing that they would likely upgrade once hooked on Porsche. But a boxster is still priced at a whole lot more than a Co...

Re: True Hi-Tech Kayaks - Advanced Materials

I think he needs to think about a range that can provide a (comparatively) entry level option to get some interest in the product ie why should someone buy this type of product compared to glass; and then step it up to max $5k for their high end model
