I was hoping to use one to get to hunting spots and to take my dog duck-hunting, might still look at one for that. Some of the comment...

Using a canoe for saltwater fishing?

Is there anybody out there doing this (I know this is a kayak site). If you are do you have any tips and recommendations. I have a scramblerxt already but am really interested in canoes as well.

All constructive feedback welcome.

Thanks guys. I hadn't though about sharks and burley. I was going to tie it to my anchor rope but I might reconsider that approach.

They are called the South-East Marine Protection Forum and they are online. You can do a submission online about what you would like to see in place, whether it is M...

Re: who owns a cobra tourer?

I've got one - love it. Good all round touring and fishing kayak. Quick through the water and pretty stable. I have a pretty basic set up, but there's plenty of room to add stuff. I have one rod holder and an insulated fish bag in the rear well where there's plenty of room. I've read that a few hav...

We do great kayaks in this country. I think kraken owners would argue that you can fit huge ammountsvof fish inside the kraken though.

Re: is anyone using magnets for mounting stuff?

Just received a magnetic mounting base from the fishfinder guys linked above. It looks well made and the magnet is super strong. Cost all up including shipping compares well with trying to build your own from local magnet suppliers. Did some basic testing and i think it will work really well. Will ...

Tempting, do you know freight costs to Dunedin? Why are you selling? Freight could be $400-$500? Only selling as is just sitting and not been used as I are using my new Trident 4.3 and will be getting another new kayak in next few months as I roll my kayaks over about every 18-24 months [emoji54] w...

Re: Best VHF to buy...

I recently got a 6w uniden. Was one of the pricier models $300+ but works great and has good battery life. Btw I also turtled with the missus in our tandem and also knackered my iPhone 5. Front button was poked so Siri would spark up randomly at inconvenient times. Anyway dr mobiles in takapuna fix...
