Early one at Puk Bay

Got up at 4am and on the water at 5:30pm. Slow fishing at usual spot off the toilet block so paddled around past Wairaka point. Conditions mint as and silky smooth until Northerly hit at 10ish. There was zero current at first and nearly always no current = no bites! Sure enough when the current star...

Pukerua Bay 16 Dec 17

Headed out for a late afternoon / evening fish. Hit the water at 5:30pm. The weather in Welly lately has been so hot that I would rather be in the water than on top. The water felt very warm. Not sure exactly what the temp was. The forecast was predicting 10kt winds but when I got to the beach it wa...

Re: New Kayak Couple in the Capital ready for Winter!

Hey Wellyhoods! Happy to help also if needed. I have been kayak fishing for 5 years. I have a Ocean kayak prowler 13 and a Viking 2+1. A good place for testing is in the harbour at Petone in the corner by the rowing club as it is very sheltered from the Northerlies. I go there quite often with the k...

Transducer cable Garmin echo 100- Help!

Thanks for the responses in my previous post re FF stuck in simulator mode. I have figured out why. I noticed that one of the four wires going into the plug had broken right at the end so i pulled back the protective sheath to expose more and ended up breaking all four wires in the process :( Doh!!!...

Garmin Echo 100 stuck in Simulator mode

I have a cheap FF, a Garmin Echo100 and it is stuck in "simulator" mode. First it says "No transducer" then soon after switches to simulator. Just wondering has anybody else experienced this and are there any ways to remedy this. It has been working in the past. Appreciate any insight.... :)

Re: Should of gone to Makara

Hey guy. Thanks for the TR was a nice read indeed. I have lost quite a number of anchors on the reef out there myself so I only fish over reefs on occasion. I have done well over the sand with anchor and burley so I normally head straight out to the sand (around 12-13m) and wait. I have a spot marke...

I had my two young boys with me for two days by my self so I thought I may have some brownie points with my wifey stored up?.... And yes got my pass after checking forecast which looked good s...

Anyone selling a double fishing kayak? Got it! Now a Viking owner!

Was wondering if anyone was considering selling their dis-used or little used double as I would love to introduce my sons into kayak fishing? Also to take other adults out in too. I would prefer either a Viking 2+1 or a Cabo. Lower North Island up to Palmy I can pick up otherwise I have an account w...
