Re: Fish sex etiquette

Why not chuck back male fish? Don't the mudfish fellas do that in some catchments with the jacks?

Hopefully a month or so Downtown. Its my reel winding hand, being able to grab the knob properly is my only concern. I'll figure it out with some modification!

Safe at Sea

First day in the school holidays, (and mine also) didn’t start to well. I made a silly move with my iki knife and did this. My iki spike has long been at the bottom of the ocean but I am getting another spike now – hopefully (will be) much safer. Point of sharing really is to say if it had been ...

Re: Broken FF

Not to bag Lowrance Worsely, as many guys swear by them, but my Garmin 300c is similar to the Elite 4. It has been on my yak for 10 months and on at least 25 trips. Dunked loads turtles and all. All my plugs and sockets still look brand new. I disconnect as soon as possible and soak/wash in warm wat...

Re: Prowler center hatch on 4.3

Buzz I am not sure if this will help or not. I have a 440, and got sick of the water getting in the hatch after the surf entries/exits here in the BOP, so I stuck some rubber door seal stuff from Mitre10 around the top edge. Glued it on with shoe glue and it seals beauty - no water! Been on for over...

Re: anyone using a Garmin 500C?

McFly, I have an echo300c and it has been rolled bowled and A..holed. Still going strong. I got mine from Baymarine here in Tauranga. Graham is a keen contributor on fishing.net.nz. He told me that they have had no head units returned. Some guys get their cables wrecked by not keeping them in order ...

Re: FF upgrade ?

Limitless, knowing you are a stickler for correct data: the Echo300c is 300watts RMS. As per Baymarine website: Transmit power: 300W (RMS)/2,400W (peak to peak)

Cheers,

Re: bay of plenty jig advice

I have caught a few on inchiku type slow jigs. 40-60 gms Like Ruff 3-4 turns off the bottom and leave in the rod holder. Always good to have one ready to drop over sign if you go over a bit. I just use my normal soft bait setup which would be 6 or 8lb braid 15 or 20lb leader. Haven't had a kingi get...
