Otago Harbour

Went out for another crack as the salmon today, spent most my time trolling a big silver lure behind me and stopped to softbait from time to time. alas, no salmon for me, about 4 caught today in total after talking to a few people. I did put my new Abu Garcia 1-3KG softbaiting rig to the test on the...

Re: My First Kayak!

What is it with kiwi bosses? Most act like you should kiss their feet since they let you work for them. I found it the opposite in aussie, most bosses stoked that you working for them and treat you accordingly. I had the oposite in aussie, worked 4 jobs in 2 years, one was great, 3 of them i was tr...

Re: can fish see colour?

I remember doing a sceice fair project with gold fish to determine this very question when i was 12.

i did determine they can see colour, and favour red.

I never worked so hard on a school project in my life.

good times.

Re: Otago Habour Salmon - 8th or 9th December

not much to report sadly,

wind made it difficult, launched from port chalmers to get away from it. Jez caught a baracuda, and i got very sunburnt legs.

no Salmon caught in the harbour Saturday that iv heard of.

hope the season picks up, because Canterbury are off to a cracking start.

Re: Otago Habour Salmon - 8th or 9th December

Re: Otago Habour Salmon - 8th or 9th December

Lets hope the wind and rain holds tomorrow! cant wait to get the Kayak out again.

I have a good variety of softbaits to try out, and a new Shimano Waxwing. Time to land some early season salmon! Lots of promising reports of 20lb salmon being caught at the moment.

Re: Otago Habour Salmon - 8th or 9th December

rod holders are cheap and easy to install. $30 tops. Or find some way to secure a pvc pipe as a rod holder. it will be necessary to have a secure rod holder or some way to keep your rod up, secure and out of the way of paddling, the idea being to drag a heavy silver ticker behind us up the shipping ...

Re: Otago Habour Salmon - 8th or 9th December

Re: Otago Habour Salmon - 8th or 9th December

Ill be sure to come down your way at some point, get into...
