Re: Simpsons beach 26th - 2nd

Hey mate,

I'm up there from Sunday for a week. Funnily enough my family owns one of the houses right on Simpson's camping field. I will have a yak but towing the boat up so will be mainly fishing off that. I'll PM you a great spot I cleaned up in last year.

I'll keep an eye out for you.

:D Plenty of strayline territory around Makara mate. A bit early in the season but post spawning it starts to fire up.

Re: Snapper in berley trail

My favourite type of fishing mate. We mainly use ledgers in Wellies as our currents are ballistic but when I'm up north I love a bait bait out the bait waiting for the baitrunner to sing.

Good luck :y:

Re: Snapper in berley trail

How are you fishing and what depth mate? If you're dispersing your burley at the surface then as Mike was elduing to if you strayline an unweighted bait back down in the berley trail then snapper will come up and hit it. I'm not sure if you watch the fishing shows but Matt Watson has shown plenty of...

Re: How did everybody go today

Fat turkey Bam. Where's Shane off to in the background? we got 10 snaps and some turkeys in a couple of hours last night on the boat towards boom rock. Hard fishing on the sand on a day like yesterday. Too sunny for the shallow stuff unless you're fishing early or late. Can't complain with tha...

I've used them in the tropics to good effect. They vibrate like nothing else, I found long rod sweeps were an effective technique. Good luck

Re: Sarturday session

Hey dude, what time you doing that. If you're launching on the incoming then I'd go from pram or you'll miss the island with the currents honking at the moment. Good luck, water was over 17 yesterday at puks so kings will be about. Will be a lot of boats out too though so keep a good eye out

Re: Anyone headed out to Welly West Coast recently?

Kings being caught already. Hunters fishes alright, good for pelagics and can be good bottom fishing on edge of the reef. Doesn't always fire though. Vern's is south of mana in 100m. There is a drop off that runs the length of the coast in 100-120m that drops to 200m. The Puka line up along it but c...

Re: Anyone headed out to Welly West Coast recently?

You'll struggle without a decent sounder TBH. Pretty much drifting blind. They will be off spawning this time of year, but you might find some pups. Fishing Vern's might be a better shot, blue cod, Terri's and snaps.

Re: Anyone headed out to Welly West Coast recently?

Big currents out the back of mana. The whole coast really, no worries if no swell or wind. The bridge can cut up pretty nasty wind against tide. We normally go wide from Makara. Doesn't take long to be into 100m

Re: Anyone headed out to Welly West Coast recently?

I normally fish 24m but that SW got sloppy so anchored in 18. Thought it might have been you, thought about swinging past but couldn't be buggered paddling back into the current. Hopefully getting the boat out this arvo for a run
