Re: Started a trolling motor build on my Reload.

Actually I may be completely wrong. I just measured the distance on Google Maps from Waitawa Park to a place I went to when I had that amp meter on. It's over 3kms in each direction and of course I didn't travel in a straight line like on the map. I had a 40AH LifePo4 battery at the time and I'm pre...

Re: Fish Seekers - Anyone here tried one?

Got mine too. Perhaps I'm not understanding it well but we clip the mainline and leader to the respective holes? I don't trust the holes as being strong enough and will be making sure there's a line connection between the clips so if a hole breaks, we don't lose the lure/fish, etc. Is there an illu...

Re: Fish Seekers - Anyone here tried one?

Ordered 3 of the little critters. 5 days to get delivered on their standard global shipping, not bad at all !! Weekend weather is not looking promising, but I'm pretty keen to give this a go. Got one set up to 4.5 meters and I suspect it's going to work wonders there on the Clevedon flats launching...

Re: Started a trolling motor build on my Reload.

I'd be really surprised if you got 24kms from a 120AH battery. I would have guessed less than 10kms. Someone on this forum, I forget who, loaned me an amp meter that measures actual amps used ( this, but different model ) while it's connected in the circuit between the battery and motor. Might be wo...

Nice going guys, more than enough fishing going around it would appear. But I'm with Hainesy, just don't find the rat-race at NN to be any fun.

Ordered 3 of the little critters.

Now I just need a way to slow down my motorized kayak and Andrew's jetski to tick below 2mph.

Oh wait:

Re: Fish Seekers - Anyone here tried one?

Oi, I want one now! Not even for the 25 meters, but just to be able to get my softbait down to 6m will be worth it.

In case anyone happened to read that completely off-topic blog post of mine, I lasted 7 days on the water fast and managed to lose 9.7kgs. Not a bad start to the year!!

Re: Toasted FF Battery

Yeah, Helix 7 is humminbird as well, but with GPS and 7" screen. I think 12V is only like 20-40% charge? Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I suspect your battery's not going to last very long. Anyway, I do 6+ hour stretches on the water and then a 9AH battery takes strain with this Helix 7.

Surely not... 1.3AH will last 1.3 minutes on my Helix 7:) Did you maybe get the same with @ 9AH?

Re: Prowler 13 vs Prowler 4.5 Elite

I had my 2 prowlers for more than 2 years and never got used to it even though I was going out multiple times per week back then. What I will say though, is that if I'm caught out in bad conditions then the 4.5 is a great kayak to be in. It breaks through waves very well and no amount of wind can st...

but maybe that was just him!
And me.

Come to think of it, I'm sure some time ago there was a post on here where a few people commented about the 4.5 being "tippy", of course followed by the usual "it's just you" banter.

Re: Prowler 13 vs Prowler 4.5 Elite

Haven't paddled the 13, but I do think the 4.5 is a pretty fast kayak. Not that stable when you put my weight on it, but lighter captains seem to be happy with it.

Nice work Viking, I've got this at the moment and you're right, it's such a pleasure rolling the kayak from the trolley onto there. My Predator XL also weighs around 50kgs and this is just SO much better than rooftop. 20170811_172434.jpg I've seen some videos with guys using the PVC piping and am th...
